Social competitions for dives and swimming are typical activities carried out by rowing clubs, which obviously favour rowing. This is why the Ferrara society, founded thirty years ago and one of the many that flourished in Italy between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, not surprisingly has a beautiful site on the Po. And it also has a beautiful swimming pool. Boccafogli is used to filming with his 16mm camera the great river near his home and the sporting activities that take place there and in Ferrara. On 19 October, he doesn't pull back, perhaps to distract himself a little like those who compete and those who watch. The war is entering an acute phase and the news from the various fronts should be worrying but is masked by propaganda information. Who knows if anything can be read between the lines. The swimming pool will be damaged during the war, it will be rebuilt but it will no longer be the same one we see here, a small architectural jewel. Pity.
