Who doesn't remember the first day of school? Almost everyone has a photograph, many have the film that actually helps to remember it better, Enrico even has a sound Super8 filmed on 15 September 1983. With the overdubbed voice of the father, who seems more excited than the child, and the commentary of Enrico himself who quivers: on the first day he already promotes himself to second grade (he later corrects himself: he is actually 'only' in I A). You can tell that children used to the camera grow less shy and have a bolder attitude. We realise this right from the start when Enrico runs up the staircase at the entrance to the Primary School, instead of clinging to his mum and dad's legs, as so many did out of fear of being swallowed up in the school, although few admit it.
