On 26 October 1954, Trieste finally returns to Italy nine years after the end of the war. A class from a high school in Parma is on a field trip in those very days and joins the population to celebrate the entry of the bersaglieri into the city. It is a sort of delayed liberation. Giovanni Greci is one of the boys on that outing, and his oral reports superimposed on the images convey the emotions of the moment on a rainy day, with the festive crowd and waving flags, that we see in the final part of this 8mm film excerpt.
